Eat, Swim, Repeat ... at La Luz Beach Resort

Lettuce Says,

My colleagues, together with Sunrise, and I, went on a getaway to the nearest beach, with some decent sand. Where to? Laiya, San Juan, Batangas!

After some OC-ness research by yours truly, we booked an overnight stay in La Luz Beach Resort. A lot of the more upscale resorts in Laiya have mandatory meal package per head basis. So we weighed a lot of options and the "relaxed" mode won. We thought that what we really want was to just chill and chat at the beach, so no time for cooking or looking for restos. We found out that the package for full board meals were more than what it's worth after tipping the scale with a few pounds earned over the weekend!

The moment we stepped into La Luz, we were served a refreshing pandan drink and cold towels.

Have I mentioned that we will eat a Buffet Lunch, Buffet Merienda, Buffet Dinner, and Buffet Breakfast?!! Oh, yeah!

Let's get it on! (So how many riceless lunch at work will I take to compensate for this?) Hakuna Matata!

It's half past 12, time for lunch!
After an hour of a hot jeepney ride from San Juan town proper, we were ushered to the pavillion and was instantly enveloped by the great smell of freshly cooked Filipino food.

After eating, Buuurp!, we went to our room, a Premier Loft to freshen up. Then, off we go kayaking!

Let's Burn that Calories!

Buffet Merienda Here I Come

Pancit Bihon with Lechon Kawali and Ham & Egg Sandwich
Kutsinta
Fried Banana
Lettuce Merienda Chronicles:

Lettuce: Grabe ang sarap talaga nung pancit andaming lechon kawali, super crunchy pa!
Atty: Ha? May lechon kawali yung pancit?
Boss: Meron ba, wala ako nakita eh.
Rap: Ako din.
Sunrise: *knowing smile*
Lettuce: Ooops! sorry... LOL

Off we go swimming with colorful fishes around us! It drizzled, gentle waves were formed and the water became cold!

Looks inviting, eh?
Buffet Dinner in Candlelight By the Shore

I super fell in love with their dinner setup! Pang date, sweet!

Fried Anchovies and Ham Tortilla Wrap                 Ceasar Salad with Dressing

Mushroom Soup and Rice in Palayok

Pesto Fettucini

Baked Fish with Cherry Tomatoes
I love this unknown fish! The sauce and the fleshy meat of the fish were really delish, I kept on coming back for a serving, harvesting a lot of those juicy tomatoes. Ooops! Sorry... LOL

Rosemary Chicken

Pork Dish with Beans

Milky Mango and Tapioca

A lot of mango were harvested, carefully leaving those small sagos. Oooops! Sorry... LOL
After the sumptuous dinner, we spent the night talking and drinking tequilla and beer. The moon rose and a great bonfire was started.

Keep the Fire Burnin, Peeps!
The next day, I waited for sunrise with Sunrise near the pavillion, so the smell of coffee and breakfast perked me up! Oooops, I became so hungry that I forgot to take pictures. Anyways, the breakfast buffet consisted of garlic rice, crispy daing na bangus, sweet longanisa, 3 kinds of cereals with 3 kinds of fresh milk (full cream, non-fat, soy), banana, sliced bread, pandesal, 3 kinds of jam, anchor butter, and an egg station. Now you know why I didn't have any pictures of this spread. Yes, I am the one who first lined up for the egg station, requesting for runny sunny side up and some ham omelet. After I ate a little of everything (little?!) with 4 rounds of Batangas Barako Coffee, I was so ready for the day ahead.

Buffet Pila of Pinoys, Americans, Koreans, etc.
Lettuce's Tip:
If possible or when opportunity arises, always be ahead of everyone else and be on time for the opening of the buffet. The friendly staff scattered around the resort will remind guests that it was time to eat, Great, right? Because, sometimes a certain dish or the dessert or the eggs were not replenished anymore. Swimming burns a lot of calories, so nourish yourselves early. (excuses? Hehehe :))

We actually never expected the food to be that tasty and delicious. It tasted like your Mom's sister's (actually pwedeng tita na lang LOL) cooking. :)

Sunrise and I snorkeled and swam until it was time for chekout, while Atty, Boss, and Rap took a relaxing massage back at the loft.

Lettuce's Tip:
Bring or rent a complete snorkeling gear for better appreciation of the live corals and colorful fishes and to prevent unwanted scrapes and cuts from the rocky parts of the shore. Lettuce improvised by wearing thick socks, ha!

We were truly amazed by the great buffet meals, friendly and reliable staff, clean rooms, and by the abundant and protected marine life just there by the shore of La Luz.

See? No need to explain the title above, Eat, Swim, Repeat at La Luz Beach Resort, since it were exactly all we did!

So, who wants to go there this summer? :)
